Clearlight – Forever Blowing Bubbles | VG++/VG+ | $20
Virgin – V 2039 | Original UK Pressing

Vinyl is a very clean and bordering on EX, with only a few hairlines and a sleeve scuff or two / Sleeve in very nice condition with just a few blemishes with a bit of cracking on the bottom of the spine and a corner bump at the lower right. A few faint creases and faint disc impression. Catalogue number sticker on the back covering the original, looks like it was exported to another country.

The second outstanding effort of cosmic prog featuring an all-star cast of members of Gong, Lard Free, Zao, Axis, and other French luminaries.

Epidermis – Genius of Original Force | VG+/VG+ | $70
Kerston Records ‎– 65063 | Original German Pressing, No Insert

Vinyl is nice and glossy with some sleeve scuffs, some hairlines and other small marks. One larger mark on side two that doesn’t affect play much. Some surface noise here and there, but still excellent playback / Sleeve has some general wear, light abrasions as to be expected on a laminated sleeve, some small creases. There is wear to the corners causing some peeling of the black, most notable as a larger tear on the lower right.

Want to hear the German Gentle Giant play a concept album depicting conception to birth? This is your jam.

Andre Fertier – Clivage | VG/VG+ | $22
Gratte-Ciel ‎– Ciel 2003 | Original French Pressing

Vinyl is EX with a few hairlines, except for a little 1/4″ scratch at the beginning of side A. It plays with some clicks through the first few minutes but is smooth sailing after that / There is some residue from a sticker on the B side label / Sleeve has some wear at the corners, minor lamination creases. There is a bend/larger crease at the opening near the top from some careless handling, but it’s not that noticeable given the cover art.

A true fusion album combining the east meets west vibe of Indian ragas and jazz, with undercurrents of guitar and keyboards by Fertier himself, adding a bit of a cosmic vibe. Violin, sax and upright bass provide a great contrasting texture to the trippy percussion.

Jethro Tull – Songs from the Wood | VG/VG | $2
Chrysalis Records – PV 41132 | Later 1977 US Pressing

Vinyl has a number of sleeve scuffs across most of the surface, hairlines, and a few larger marks. Plays with a bit of noise, but still enjoyable / Sleeve has wear to edges and corners, some creases along the edges, some chipping at the spine. Light disc impressions, and price sticker on front.

The Muffins – Manna / Mirage | VG/VG+ | $27
Random Radar Records ‎– RRR 003 | Original US Pressing

Vinyl has mostly some sleeve scuffs, a few hairlines, but one or two larger marks (the one near the end of side two will make some noise, but nothing terrible) / A side label has name written in blue ink / Sleeve has the requisite amount of wear for American cardboard (abrasions, slight ringwear). Some wear at the corners and edges. A few scratches near the opening on the right of the cover. Name in blue ink on back.

I’m of the opinion that this is the greatest single American prog album. If you like Canterbury bands such as Hatfield and the North, National Health, or Gilgamesh, this is for you.

Popol Vuh – Aguirre | VG++/VG+ | $40
Kosmische Musik ‎– KK 20 21275-8 | 1982 Pop Import German Pressing

Vinyl super glossy, just a few sleeve scuffs and a hairline or two, really closer to EX / Sleeve would be EX but for a larger crease/bend at the bottom right.

Raccomandata Ricevuta Ritorno ‎– Per….Un Mondo Di Cristallo | VG+/VG+ | $60
King Records ‎– K25P 426 | 1984 Japanese Pressing | With Insert, No OBI

Vinyl is basically NM – there’s a large mark near the beginning of the A side that doesn’t make a sound for me during playback. A beautiful copy otherwise / Sleeve is quite clean, has two corner bumps at the top. The only real blemish is a crease/bend at the top left corner.

Amazing sounding wax, the best possible way to get this album aside from shelling out $500 plus for an original. A really eclectic Italian classic.

Stern Combo Meissen – Weisses Gold | VG++/VG++ | $30
TELDEC – K22P-475 | 1984 Japanese Pressing | With Insert, No OBI

Vinyl nice and glossy, a few hairlines here and there, some scuffs/light scratches on the A side run-in. An occasional bit of noise / Sleeve would be an incredibly tight NM but has some foxing (discoloration).

This is a pressing of excellent quality, with fat analogue sound. I haven’t heard an East German original, but given the quality of Iron Curtain wax, this may be the best bet. Classic, keyboard driven prog.

Terpandre – Terpandre | VG++/VG++ | $20
Musea ‎– FGBG 2018 | 1988 French Pressing

Vinyl has some sleeve scuffs and hairlines, one or two on the larger side, but in nice condition / Sleeve shows some general wear, small corner bump bottom right, some discoloration.

Classic symphonic prog full of mellotron and synths, this also veers into fusion territory when the violin takes the lead, and a bit new agey on the more atmospheric tracks. Not entirely unlike Happy the Man’s long lost French cousin.

Yes – Close to the Edge | VG+/G+ | $15
Atlantic P-10116A | 1976 Japanese Pressing | With Insert and OBI

Vinyl pretty much EX, aside from a larger mark on each side that doesn’t affect play for me / Labels have price stickers on each side (boycott the record store that did that!) / Sleeve has visible water damage with some tearing, but otherwise normal light wear. I gave it my Odor Abatement treatment, so it doesn’t smell of mildew. Price sticker on front. Has all inserts including printed innersleeve.

Still Available from Past Friday Sales

Agusa – Två ‎ | SEALED | $20
Kommun 2 – KOMMUN2-33 | Original Swedish Pressing | Black wax limited to 200 copies

Direct from the label!

Arco Iris – Los Elementales | G+/VG | $50
Cabal ‎– LPL 9013 | Original Argentinian Pressing | No original printed inner sleeve

NOTE: Vinyl is in decent condition overall, but has a real issue with what seems to be adhesive residue stuck to a few places on the run-ins, and in the first track on the A side. I’ve given this multiple cleanings, and it is as good as it will ever get. The major problem is really only with the first few minutes. There are some larger marks on each side, but none that are as drastic as the first track. No skips, just pops and clicks. I gave it another play last night to refresh my memory, and after those first few minutes (which are fairly percussion heavy and hide the pops pretty well), the rest of the album plays really, really well for me.

Sleeve has discoloration in the white areas as expected with age, some wear to the edges, with light lamination cracking. Lower left corner has a decent size bend. Disc impression on the back.

Given the rarity of this album, this copy might be appealing to anyone willing to give it a chance, or forgo playing the first few minutes in order to enjoy the rest.

Babylon – Babylon | SEALED | $25
Mehum Music ‎– 4641 | RE? |

This was passed on to me as being deadstock of the 1978 second pressing, but this appears to be an exact modern reproduction of that edition. I haven’t opened it, so it’s impossible to tell. The shrink isn’t as tight as something nearly 40 years old should be, so there likely won’t be any issue with warping as you might worry about in a sealed vintage record.

Caravan – Waterloo Lily | VG/G+ | $30
Deram ‎– SDL 8 | Original UK Pressing with Brown/White Labels

Vinyl has numerous light hairlines throughout, but no large scratches. Will play with some noise / Labels have spindle marks / Sleeve has price sticker in UR, writing in both sharpie and ballpoint on UL, some heavy creasing and indentations on the front. Spine has about 4″ split.

Egg – The Civil Surface | VG++/VG | $45
Caroline Records ‎– C 1510 | Original UK Pressing | EJD on Back Cover

Vinyl has a number of faint hairlines, bright and shiny gloss, no large marks. (I’ve had a few copies of this, and it isn’t the best pressing – even flawless NM records will play with some surface noise in the quiet parts, in my experience) / Sleeve has some ringwear, edgewear, some light creasing and a few indentations. Slight discoloration at the top and bottom edges of the back.

The Ghoulies – Dogged By Dogma | SEALED/EX | $40
Lounging Records ‎– LA01 | Original UK Pressing

Shrink is not tight, so I think there’s little risk of any warping / Sleeve has faint disc impression.

For those not in the know, this is a great Canterbury-inspired album in a pop/rock/jazz vein featuring Dave Stewart and Pip Pyle. It’s not The Rotter’s Club, but it’s damn good for what it is.

Hatfield and the North – Hatfield and the North | SEALED | $30
Virgin – OVED 131 | 1980s UK Pressing

Shrink is not tight at all. Red/Green Virgin labels from the early 80s.

Phil Manzanera – K-Scope | EX/VG+ | $4
Polydor, EG PD-1-6178 | 1978 US Pressing

Vinyl would be NM aside from a pressing defect bubble on the A side and a faint sleeve scuff on the B side, very bright and shiny gloss / Sleeve has light wear, mostly at the corners. A small dent at the opening.

Still Available from the First Catalogue Sale

Airlord – Clockwork Revenge | NM/EX | $30
Nexus International ‎K25P-411 | 1983 Japanese RE | Has insert, No OBI

Vinyl is a beautiful NM, looks barely played / Sleeve has very faint wear at the corners. There seems to be a bit of rubbing wear, but it actually looks to be from the copy they photographed for the reissue, and not actually this sleeve.

Camel – Mirage | VG++/VG++ | $30
Deram ‎K19P-9050 | 1980 Japanese Pressing | Includes OBI, but no insert

Vinyl has some hairlines and light marks, mostly on side two / Sleeve shows light wear, but a fairly large crease in the lower left (this shows through on both sides, was bent when vinyl was out of sleeve).

Corte dei Miracoli – Corte dei Miracoli | EX/VG+ | MAKE AN OFFER
Grog Records GRL 04 | Original Italian Pressing

Ok, this one is truly special. I purchased this album SEALED and after much deliberation, I have broken the shrink and opened it to be able to give it the most accurate listing possible. It has never been played by me. As you may know, most European albums in the 70s were not sold sealed, and this was likely sealed when it arrived at a US distributor.

I have taken an unboxing video of me opening it and pictures of it sealed are at the end of the listed photos. You can view the video here.

This item will require insured Priority mail shipping, both domestic and international, or single carrier service such as FedEx/UPS. Please be aware before bidding.

I am calling this EX simply because it is a rare and expensive album and I would rather undergrade. Most others would call this NM. There is a hairline or two, and some sleeve scuffs from the paper sleeve. I put it on my turntable to confirm that there is only a mild warp that should not affect play / The sleeve I am calling VG+ as it has become wavy on front and back from being sealed. There is slight wear to some of the corners, and a scrape on the spine (not a cut-out). The inside gatefold and labels are pristine. I have placed the record in a new poly innersleeve.

As mentioned above, I understand this item to be an unplayed archive copy, as I purchased it sealed. The condition is to be expected from being sealed for 39 years. This is a one-of-a-kind item in 2016!

Riccardo Cocciante ‎– Mu | VG/VG | $10
RCA Italiana ‎PL 31352 | 1978 Italian RE

Le Tamanoir TAM-27011 | Original Canadian Pressing

Vinyl has some hairlines and paper scuffs, plays with some crackle / Sleeve has some rubbing with pigment loss, a decent amount of edgewear, some creasing.

Conventum – Le Bureau Central Des Utopies | VG++/VG | $35
Les Disques Cadence ‎CAD-1005 | Original Canadian Pressing

Vinyl has some faint hairlines and a few paper scuffs / Sleeve has 3 of 4 corners cut (about ½-1 inch from edges), some staining to top edges, edgewear, small pen mark.

Egg – The Civil Surface | VG++/VG++ | $50
Caroline C 1510 | Original UK Pressing (with EJD credit on back cover)

Vinyl has a few light hairlines with one more noticeable mark, plays with surface noise in the quieter parts and a few pops on the second side. (Caroline pressings are notoriously noisy, unfortunately) / Sleeve has some light wear overall, creasing in lower right corner, small bit of an abrasion at upper center.

England – Garden Shed | EX/VG++ | $50
Arista ERS-28024 | 1989 Japanese RE | with Insert, No OBI

Vinyl has a few faint hairlines, almost NM / Textured sleeve shows some light wear, a few light creases, a few indentations, faint disc impression. This is a needle-drop, as it plays with some surface noise in parts, but not because of the condition of this record. I’ve heard a few Edison from this period, and they all seem to be needle-drops.
